Top Button: God is good
Sunday, peacefully in her home with her family, my friend Amanda passed away. A sweet friend of mine, Ali, posted a video that Amanda had sent her as they were both battling cancer diagnoses. Here is a transcription of part of what Amanda shared in the video.
"Home is in heaven. Viewing yourself as an exile, and an outsider, and someone here for the mission of Christ - you've already died. You've given your life over to Christ, and there's nothing to lose. The problem is that we build companies, and relationships, and have children. You get invested in the temporal, though, you know, it is temporary. So keeping an eternal perspective needs to be top button - God is good, and his good news is in a kingdom that is to come. His good news also heals and restores us as we await that new kingdom." - Amanda Gregory
I am believing for healing, for comfort, for peace, for guidance, for deliverance for my friends and family. I am also angry at our medical system for not putting more time, money, and brain space into curing cancer. I am also sad for my family, my friends, and most of all for Amanda's loved ones as we all grieve and find a new normal.
I will move, fuel, and honor my body with rest. I will snuggle my family a little longer and be more present in the moment. I will refocus every day to keep a Kingdom perspective. This world is temporary, and my hope is in heaven.
